BASIC PISTOL

This course is designed for new gun owners with emphasis on gun safety, gun terminologies, and fundamental of marksmanship. This class is about 80% lecture and 20% range.

6-hour course, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Sacramento Valley Gun Club (Address: 15501 Meiss Road, Sloughhouse, CA 95683) https://www.sacvalley.org

$300, limits to 6 participants.

Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.

COURSE OUTLINE

This classes will cover the fundamentals of firearms safety, marksmanship and California Laws on safe storage, transportation and other firearms laws, including:

Responsible firearms ownership and applications of the handgun
Firearms safety training for the home, workplace, and vehicle
Safety concerns and practices while training and while carrying a firearm
Safe use and handling of firearms
Locking devices and techniques for firearms to prevent unauthorized gun access
Potential dangers (penetration, ricochet, misidentification, accidental discharges, etc.)
Components and operation of modern pistols and revolvers
Types, components, and purposes of modern ammunition
Applicable laws relating to the possession, transportation, and storage of firearms
Fundamentals of basic marksmanship

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

Quality functional semi-automatic pistol, magazines, and magazine pouch.
Dominant side, hip-mounted holster or dominant side, belt-mounted holster
Wear long pants with pockets and belt loops, a sturdy 1.5″ belt, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals), and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)
Protective eyewear, sunblock, and hydration.                                                   Active noise reduction hearing protection preferred
Optional, loading devices

About 50 rounds of pistol ammunition (provided by student)
